Micki Downey
The President and Owner of Star & Compass Travel, Micki Downey has over 40 years of business experience including almost 20 years in the travel industry. She works as both an individual and group travel consultant, group coordinator, and tour escort, in addition to her work in group and individual marketing. She is a true problem-solver and inventive thinker, and as such, keeps everyone on track, and helps us in finding new ways to serve the needs of our clients. Micki is also an avid genealogist and finds every opportunity to discuss her passion with her traveling companions.
BUD RAMSEY
Bud Ramsey is an experienced business professional, and as an associate of Star & Compass, he is a valued asset, by coordinating a number of our group trips. Bud’s current work with us includes group sales, tour coordinator, and tour escort. Bud is a Past Master of Mt. Moriah Lodge No. 292 in Los Gatos, and was formerly the Assistant Grand Lecturer of Division III for the Grand Lodge of California. He is a Past Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar in California. He is a Past Pharaoh of the Supreme Pyramid, Ancient Egyptian Order of Sciots, and is a former Grand Governer of California, for the York Rite Sovereign College of North America. He is a two-time Past Patron of Starlight Chapter No. 401, OES. He is also a member of San Jose Scottish Rite; Asiya Shriners; San Jose York Rite Bodies; St. Francis Conclave; Red Cross of Constantine; San Jose Pyramid No. 9, Sciots; Zorah Grotto, M.O.V.P.E.R.; Brittania Council, Allied Masonic Degrees, and many other Masonic organizations.
SUSAN RAMSEY
Susan Ramsey has proven herself a natural in the world of professional travel. Her interpersonal and organizational skills have made her a true asset to the mission of Star & Compass. Susan is a Past Matron of Starlight Chapter No. 401, OES, and a Past High Priestess of Ankh Court, Ladies Oriental Shrine. Her work includes group sales, travel consultant, tour coordinator, and tour escort.
GREGG HALL
The newest member of the Star & Compass team, Gregg Hall, is an experienced Project Manager with an MBA in project management.
Gregg is a Past Master of both South Valley Lodge No. 187 and Liberty Lodge No. 299, and was an Inspector for the Grand Lodge of California. He is a Past Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar in California. He is a Past Grand Governor for the York Rite Sovereign College and Past Grand Superintendent for the Allied Masonic Degrees. He is also a Past Patron of Manzanita Star Chapter No. 342 of the Order of the Eastern Star. He is also a member and past presiding officer of the San Jose York Rite Bodies, St. Francis Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine, Zorah Grotto, and several others. He is a 33rd degree in the Scottish Rite and is the General Secretary for the Valley.
Randy Downey
IN MEMORIUM
Randy Downey was a founding partner and worked in the travel industry for over 15 years. He had a widely diverse background and traveled extensively throughout the world. He was truly a master of the craft of professional travel.
Randy was a Past Master of Mt. Moriah Lodge No. 292 in Los Gatos, California, and was a former Inspector of the 337th Masonic District for the Grand Lodge of California. Randy was a former Grand Governor of California for the York Rite Sovereign College of North America. He was a Past Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of California, and was a former Director of Ritual for the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of California. He served as the Grand Master’s Chief of Staff for Most Worshipful Ken Nagel in 2009-2010. He was a Past Pharaoh of the Ancient Egyptian Order of Sciots. He was also a member of Calaveras Keystone Lodge No. 78, Columbia Historic Lodge No. 2058, as well as Manzanita Chapter No. 342, Order of the Eastern Star; San Jose Scottish Rite; Asiya Shriners; San Jose York Rite Bodies; San Jose Pyramid No. 9, Ancient Egyptian Order of Sciots; and many other Masonic organizations. He was a Senior DeMolay, and a recipient of the Degree of Chevalier and the Legion of Honor.
Randy entered the hospital in Hawaii while preparing for a group cruise in April of 2022. He was never able to join that group and we lost him on June 4 of that year. He will forever be part of this company, and his legacy shall live on, as long as there is a Star & Compass Travel.
BOB Morgan
IN MEMORIUM
Bob Morgan was a founding partner, and the driving force behind Star & Compass Travel. Bob was a Master Mason for nearly half a century, and spent decades in the travel industry. It was his knowledge, energy, creativity, and passion for travel, which led to the formation of Star & Compass, and accounted, in large measure, for its success.
Along with his wife Carol, Bob created and led many of the travel groups that brought the company recognition, and helped foster our reputation for providing excellent service to our clients. Among his many accomplishments was the 2016 Order of Eastern Star cruise to Alaska, with 235 members and family in the group. Just months before his passing, he led yet another cruise group to Hawaii, sealing his own reputation as one who had a love for travel and a dedication to the business. We lost Bob on May 16, 2020. We miss him dearly. Like Randy, he will forever be part of this company, remembered by so many.
